The annual library day for the year 2016/2017 organised by the Senior Library Society was held on the 18th of October 2016. The theme for the day was “Within the pages, between the lines”

The chief guest for the day was Madam Pushpamala Perera -Librarian of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology since 2004 and Associate member of the Sri Lanka Library Association. The guest of honour was Mrs. Husni Hussain, Chairperson of Ilma Educational Foundation.

The day began with prayers and the recitation of Quran which was followed by the welcome speech delivered by the Vice President of the society. Tokens of appreciation were presented to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour. Then began the events of the day, leaving the audience awe struck by the melodious voices of our girls and bubbles of laughter through their exceptional dramatic arts. This was followed by the most awaited event of the day- the distribution of awards. Students from grades 9 to A-levels were awarded for their creativity skills portrayed at the competitions organised by the Senior Library Society. A very informative presentation on the benefits of reading was done by our chief guest. All in all, it was “a day to remember & reminisce.”
